I've spent a long time looking at different Dutch Ovens. I'm glad that I took the time to select this. I was very impressed with the quality of this Dutch Oven, the price is incredible. We have our first gas oven and cook-top. I've always had electric or a glass top range. I love the gas, and making a roast is easier when browning the meat. I like that the lid can be used as a skillet too. Instead of having a knob on the center of the lid. I admit, at first I had to think about how to remove the lid at first. I would usually just grab the knob on the lid, on this I just rotate the lid a little then lift it off.This comes pre-seasoned but I re-seasoned it anyway, it didn't need it, but use makes cast iron better. I made a great pot roast and sauteed the onions, celery and potato's in the top. This made the entire process much easier. Delicious, my wife posted everything to her facebook and we received "gobs" of complements. I did notice a first use Iron Taste, but the more this is used, the less that will occur. I still needed to wash, and re-season with shortening, that's me, but I've never had any cast iron rust up on me, particularly a new piece. Learning how to use Cast Iron is important.Honestly! I don't think I could have made a better buy.

I've been using this product to bake artisan bread and it has been perfect so far. It is the right height and weight and it keeps the steam sealed in when the cover is on during the first 25 minutes of baking time. I use what most would consider the top as the pan for the loaf and use the large pot as the top. It leaves plenty of room for the bread to rise. I highly recommend this product for folks making sourdough bread as described in Tartine Bread by Chad Robertson.

Great quality. I use it to bake sourdough boules. Convenient to be able to use right side up or upside down. Equally as good as Lodge and slightly bigger diameter. Definitely recommend.

This product was quality. It works well to make homemade spaghetti sauce in chili and chicken and dumplings. It rusted almost immediately and I'm still trying to find a way to keep it from rusting I do not use it in the dishwasher and once it is cleaned I soak it in olive oil.

I grew up in an age where women threw away their cast iron for horrible Teflon.. If someone had told me that now I wouldn't use anything else I would have laughed. I made my first loaf of bread in this Dutch oven. It was beautiful! I'd rather bake my own bread than buy from the grocery store. So now...… I'm on a quest to replace all of my grandmothers cast iron kitchenware.. I guess you can tell I love this. This seller was quick, the product arrived as advertised and I will purchase from them again

My husband asked for this for Christmas because he's an avid bread baker. He had seen many of his favorite chefs online posting videos of baking their bread with this set. It has been so easy to use and everything we've made has come out looking beautiful. Its large and is easy to clean. It came pre-seasoned and ready to go, but we went ahead and seasoned it again anyway to make sure we're taking good care of it.Aside from baking bread, we've made stews and tons of dinner dishes. We are so happy with this set!

First, let me start by saying I ADORE cast iron. I rarely cook or even bake on much of anything else as long as the ingredients are compatible/not acidic.This is the third cast iron set type like this to enter my kitchen and so far, It seems like a great investment and worth every penny.If you’re unsure if you need a cast iron set, I can assure you, this is a great set to start with.I’m re-seasoning both pieces as we speak and will be very shortly attempting several recipes for the rest of the week/weekendIf you don’t see an update, I can assure you that it’s because it’s an amazing staple for any kitchen and I haven’t come across any imperfections or problems.Give it a shot, you won’t regret it

Very solid thick heavy duty quality pre seasoned cast iron pot and lid (lid can also double as another pan). Comes with instructions for use and care which are very important to read. Explains how to season it and clean it for the best results and shelf life of the cookware. Obviously - Don’t boil water in it or leave it around wet or it will rust like ALL cast iron does. Keep it dry and seasoned - scour it with salt to clean it and coat it with the right oil then heat and let cool - and you will be amazed how much better every meal tastes from this amazing piece of cookware. Very satisfied. Nothing like being able to cook on the stove top then put it right into the oven to keep food warm. Same goes for camp cooking over an open fire or hot coals. Love this and so happy I purchased it. Fast shipping, great price. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

I love this ! I purchased 2, one for myself and one for my brother. We both love the product. Having the lid convert to a pan is awesome! It came well seasoned and no problems with food sticking. It's a great size for making artisan bread which is what i purchased it for, but i have been using the lid almost daily on the stovetop since it arrived. Wish i had one of these years ago!

very good quality, i use the top skillet portion more than the actual dutch oven, but i have made a nice stew in the oven and it held up nicely.

The only thing I don’t like is the bottom isn’t a smooth surface other than that it’s a great cast-iron Dutch oven

I loved the size of the double dutch oven and doned skillet lid. Although it was cracked Amazon let me return this item. I am ordering another as I think it will be great to cook in and the food will be delicious. My Mom had one when I was a child.

This worked great! I was told this was pre seasoned, but I went ahead & added one more layer to the seasoning. I used it last night with chicken & vegetables, they came out perfect! The top of the pan is very versatile, I actually used it after I fried the chicken (which left the meat warm) while I used the pan to fry some potatoes. Great product & very good price.

Love cooking with cast iron. Love the duel purpose of tghe lid. Sadly the pot doesn't hold its round shape after a few uses and the lid does not fit right anymore.

I was skeptical given the price vs. other brands that I didn’t buy due to the cost. This came packaged well, and the initial impression it was well made. Now to be fair, I used it to make stew and have yet to use the lid as a separate frying pan. Yet given its shape it is sure to come along for future camping trips with being two utensils in one. I’m satisfied with my purchase.

Great product!I cooked a seasoned pork roast the day after receiving my HD pre-seasoned cast iron cookware. Turned the oven to 400 for 45 minuted, turned off the oven to let stay for 2 hours! Delicious and tender roast! The pot stayed at a cooking temperature until warm! Never had to check for 2 hours. Good product! Has multi features such as cooking in the oven, on top of the oven or on the grill!

I am a cast iron cookware fan. This product would have gained more stars had it been better seasoned. Selling something as pre-seasoned, then telling the customer they may want to season it before using the first time, is NOT pre-seasoned! Otherwise, it is a very nice dutch oven, and I have used it many times for stews. I will definitely need to season it again myself before using it again though. That bit was disappointing.

Let me just say that I love my cast iron frying pan, but it just wasn't deep enough for fried chicken. This cast iron pot really fit the bill. It is well made and I loved that it was pre-seasoned so I could use it right away. Another bonus is that the lid can also be used for cooking. I see a lot of use in this pot's future!

A friend loaned me his Porclain over iron Dutch oven. It was pretty but chipped, handling a pot that heavy is bound to get bumped around. I decided then to buy a cast iron oven. After reading some reviews and comparing prices I bought the Bruntmor oven. I seasoned it once with avocado oil which I understand has the highest of smoke point. My first try at baking bread at 450 degrees was perfect. The bread was baked evenly with no noticeable hot spots. The best was the bread was loose in the oven, no coaxing or digging to retrieve. The lid makes a perfect pan for sautéing and searing. If I could make one suggestion it would be to somehow make it easier to distinguish between the handles of the lid from the pot. When reaching into the hot oven I’m careful not to grab one handle of the lid and one of the pot. At 450* you don’t want an accident.

It was delivered super fast and it was seasoned as advertised . I cooked my first dinner , washed the dutch oven with warm water only and it was ready to go. I wanted cast iron so I could cook in the oven without changing to another pot after browning the meat and vegetables on the stop top. It cooked my braised short ribs and vegetables perfect and in a faster time then just cooking on the stove top.

My Cast Iron pot is wonderful. I've used it several times.The only problem for me is cleaning after each use. The cleaning instruction and the on line instruction are two sets of instructions.I re season it after each use.I love it , it's just a pain to CLEAN to prevent rust!

I bought this specifically to bake my sourdough bread in, it is wonderful. Even though it was pre-seasoned, I seasoned it again a couple of times. It works beautifully.

The pan needs to be thoroughly scrubbed when you first get it. Otherwise tons of black "ash" comes off onto your food and everything else. I used coarse salt and oil and cleaned it with a paper towel on the ends of tongs. The pre-seasoning is also weirdly sticky, so you really neef to reseason yourself!

Love it!!!I have been using this pot and skillet non stop. So easy to use and clean. I clean this pot by slightly warming it up to loosen up stuck on food. I then clean it with dish soap. However I do not let it sit in water or dish soap, this would cause rusting. After I wash it I put it back on the stove on low heat to dry. I then add oil and let sit for a few minutes then it's done. Have had no rusting issues. Would definitely recommend this item.

It's worth the money. Make sure you "season" the pan. DO NOT LET WATER SIT IN THE PAN IT WILL RUST. DO NOT USE SOAP IT WILL ERODE THE "seasoning". I've made really good gravy and soups in this Dutch oven. It cooks evenly and holds heat. I like that the top turns into a skillet. By the way it's my first cast iron cooking item.

I am very satisfied with this dutch oven. The walls are thick and the lid is a good fit. The lid is domed and the lip seats deep enough into the pot to prevent condensation from dripping outside the side of the pot. It is pre-seasoned but the instructions recommended seasoning before first use, so I did that.5 quart is a very useful size for family meals. I've used it for eight large chicken thighs (seared 4 at a time) and made a couple loaves of no knead bread in it so far. I've used metal utensils to get under the food and did not scrape the finish. The pot is coated inside and outside with a grainy texture -- use a wet sponge to get stuck particles loosened, then rinse, put on the stove top long enough to dry. Like any cast-iron pot, don't use dish soap or put in the dishwasher. These pots and handles get hot. Protect yourself with some silicone mitts that go above your wrists. I would recommend this brand to anyone looking for a dutch oven.

I bought this Dutch oven to keep with my camping gear. I love camping, but hate packing pots and pans that never quite come clean. I thought this would be perfect. I was right. This worked perfect for all of our meals on the last trip of the summer. It is durable so can be used over flame or with briquettes. Having the lid that doubles as a skillet is super convenient. I am very happy with this purchase. And for the price it can't be beat.

I am far from and expert cook but I really like the look of this unit. I made some spaghetti in it and it cleaned up nicely. being a dummy the first time I took the lid off I had the handles lined up with each other and I had trouble getting the lid off but then I realized I just needed to offset the handles and it was fine. The way the handles fit together shows the quality of the mold work that went into making the unit. This is a heavy well made product.
