I ordered 2 of these and use them pretty often. The good: These things seal very well. I have even put hot tea into them and carried them to work. No leakage whatsoever. Hot items are kept at least "fairly warm" for several hours. The lids are designed pretty good for being able to get a solid grip on.The bad: One problem with them is that the lids are "single-threaded" and not "double-threaded". When the contents is hot (aka, 'under pressure') it can be extremely difficult to take the lid off. The lid, on the verge of coming off, gets cocked sideways and stuck and then you can't budge it. Well, that happened one too many times for one of my two containers, and I ended up hitting it against the kitchen sink to try to snap the plastic threads back into alignment. The entire lid cracked wide open and pieces went everywhere. Now I only have one of these, and the one that I have doesn't have a tendency to jam up like the other one did. So I guess it's hit-and-miss. I'd wager that if you avoided putting very hot contents into these containers altogether, that you'd never have that problem though.

Its healthy(all stainless steel) and True wide mouth along with LunchBots, these r the ONLY 2 . We put hot boiling water and opened after an hour or less it opened fine but not the easiest like Yum box which has soft plastic for easy opening, but its plus point is it has a line in the middle of lid as diameter for easier opening than Lunchbots. These both have hard plastic so we didnt want to take the risk if it doesnt open , my child would remain hungry at school ! So we returned both. Only if it has soft plastic around the lid as parameter we would have kept this true wide open box ! Everything else was GREAT !

Love this thermos, it is big enough for a nice soup. Keeps the food very warm. I have used it almost daily for 4 months. After a while it became hard to open when it had warm food in it. Once I took the gasket out of the lid, it works perfect and does not leak either. I would buy it again. L

I preheat the jar with hot water every morning before adding my son's lunch - he says his lunch is still always nice and warm. ...if he can get to it. He's 12 and has large, fairly strong hands for his age. The is so wide it's tough to get a good enough grip on to unscrew it. The bad part is that if he's pushing down to help him grip it - it cross threads and is LOCKED. I had to use oil filter pliers to open the thing once and I'm a pretty strong guy with very strong hands. So this thing has locked him out of his lunch on SEVERAL occasions. We never had problems with the Thermos or Hydro Flask. He just tends to lose these things and we wanted to cut your losses on the price.

Seems to be excellent quality, and love the handle. However, I bought it for my 6 year old daughter who wants to be able to open her own thermos when she’s at school, and she can’t get it open by herself. Not necessarily a bad thing because it means the vacuum seal is great, just doesn’t fit our purpose.

This container lets you maximize its space and accessibility. The opening is wide enough to easily fill in food and scoop them out for effortless snacking. This is perfect for those who prioritize practicality over pretty design or whatnot. Anyway, this container looks pretty too.

People can't open it because hot objects will cool and produce a strong vacuum and there is no pressure relief mechanism. The strength of the vacuum is proportional to the lid, which is very wide!On the other hand, you have no such problem with cold objects. For me, this has ended my life long search for a thermos that can fit a pint of ice cream perfectly. For this I'm grateful :D!

My sister works at night as a manager in an outsourcing. She often complaints about the office being so cold due to crazy huge AC in every corner of the work area. And the worst part for her was the pantry being always jam-packed with people trying heat up their food, hoarding coffee, or leaving most food concessionaires out of stock. She often end up eating cold packed lunch. I thought this container would be a good gift for her cold stomach each time she's at work. And to my surprise, she loved it. She said it has been keeping her food hot ever since she started using it. Imagine how a small container like this can affect her perspective of work.

Bought this one so I can have lunch at a construction site. It has served me well through this first week of use. Liked the design over other similar models even though I had to change the process of making sandwiches and make them round so they can fit in there. Tested this with soup a couple of times - leaks didn't occur.

Love it! I work out in the field and during the winter just want something warm to eat. If I heat it with boiling water before putting in the hot food, it's still warm 4-5 hours later. I plan to use it to keep my meals cold in the summer too.The notches on the lid also make it easier to open if you have small hands.

Update April 2018: I just changed my review from 3 to 4 stars because I found an easy way to deal with the "hard to open" problem. I placed a small piece of parchment paper over the edge of the open jar so that it hangs in and out of the food jar. Then I make sure the paper stays in place when I screw the lid on. We have not had a problem opening the jar since using this trickOld review:I really like the size and quality of this food jar. The first time we used it without a problem and the food remained nice and warm. The second time I heated it in advance with hot water, as I always do with thermal food jars, and it took me several painful tries to get it back open. At school my daughter could not open it at all and had to ask two other friends for help. Only the strongest one managed it. The next time I was careful to screw the lid on without tightening it at all and, in spite of that, it took several friends to open it again. I assume the heated food triggers some kind of vacuum effect, even when the lid has been screwed on lightly. It's too bad, I like everything else about this jar but am worried it might stay stuck permanently like another comment described. I would not buy this again.

I searched so many jars and decided to settle on this because of wide mouth and all stainless steel inside. Took my chances as there was just one review at that time. The jar wouldn't close smoothly and difficult/impossible to open. I earlier thought it was because of hot food but this is third time. First day my 14 yr son took for lunch he said that food was hot but it took two more boys to open. One held the bottom and other twisted the lid. Third time now, it is stuck permanently for 3 days and food is inside. My son, my husband and I, everyone tried to open but it just wouldn't! My husband said the thread is off. I am returning it back with the food inside as it wouldn't open.Sorry, I thought it was a good purchase after so much of research.

There were no reviews when I bought this so I was hoping for the best. We've had it a few weeks now and so far we are very pleased! I was interested in this one because of it's large size and the stainless steel inside the lid. Haven't put it to the test as to how long it stays warm, but so far it has been just as warm after 6 hours in a cold truck as it was when it was put in. We have been pre-warming thermos with hot water before adding hot soup. Lid is very easy to tighten and remove and doesn't seem to leak. The only trouble we've had with getting the lid sealed well was when there was just a little too much soup in there so it wouldn't screw down evenly.
